MELANIE ESSEX lives and works in London. She was educated at Harvard College (BA 1981), L’Institute National des Arts du Spectacle (Bruxelles, Belgium) and studied painting at the New York Studio School (1990-94).
Since moving to England over a decade ago the focus of her work has shifted from the seascapes of her rural childhood in Maine and on Long Island to include the constructed topography of the urban landscape. Her recent work deals particularly with the interaction of the built and the natural. She has exhibited extensively in London as well as in New York and Maine.
